About Us

Our Firm

Founded in 2015 by Justin Reckers and Sandi Bozanic, Fonte Financial Advisors was created to serve individuals and couples navigating financial transitions, supporting them to overcome challenges and obtain financial independence.

“Fonte” is an Italian word meaning “the source from which anything begins.” We embrace this concept in everything we do at Fonte Financial Advisors because all great achievements have a beginning, and we especially thrive on joining our clients in the beginning phases of their next great success.

Our sister company, Wellspring Divorce Advisors, has helped hundreds of men and women start the divorce journey and come out successful. Now, we have dedicated Fonte Financial to supporting those who have completed the separation process and are stepping into a new light.

In a new chapter of your life, you are presented with opportunities, and we want you to know that you have the power to take control of your future.

I live in Southern California with my wonderful family and where I co-founded Fonte Financial Advisors and Wellspring Divorce Advisors. My two children are Ashton and Emmy and watching them grow up has been the joy of my life. When I am not working with clients or with my family, I enjoy playing competitive soccer, not-so-competitive golf, and gardening.

Education is very important to me and throughout my life, I’ve taken many different avenues to enrich myself. I am a proud graduate of The Ohio State University, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®, and a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst®.

Helping people is what I feel I was born to do. It is all the more fulfilling to play a role in someone overcoming their challenges and prospering. I am very fortunate to have the ability to help real people make tangible positive changes in their lives.

I also enjoy giving back and being part of a community. I am a former Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Pacific South Coast Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and I served as a board member of the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts, Collaborative Practice California, and the Collaborative Family Law Group of San Diego.

I've been featured in the Wall Street Journal, CNBC, Investment News Magazine, Financial Planning Magazine, CNN Money, Bankrate.com, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, the Matrimonial Strategist, Family Lawyer Magazine, and many other media outlets.

I have also served as a speaker and resource for journalists on the topic of Divorce Financial Planning, Strategic Financial Planning, and Behavioral Finance. I have spoken to groups such as the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts, the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, and have taught a special topics course on Divorce Financial Planning at Texas Tech University.

I'm a San Diego native, born & raised. I lived all around the North County area up until my family moved to the east coast in 2021. Together with my husband, Andrew, and our 2 children, Camryn and Jeremiah "JJ", we moved to the Atlanta suburbs to begin a new chapter of our lives.

My greatest joys in life are teaching new things to my young children and watching their adorable faces light up with excitement & wonder, and providing them with opportunities to enjoy new experiences. I enjoy quality time with my family, cooking, spending time outdoors, visiting our local lake, and exploring new places since we're new to Atlanta and living on the east coast.

Before joining Fonte in 2017, I worked for a diverse range of organizations in the San Diego area, including a large cybersecurity company and a small business startup in the corporate wellness industry.  With over 16 years of experience within various industries, I've garnered extensive experience implementing organizational strategies for efficient business operations and building support teams from the ground up.

Working in the financial planning space has been very rewarding as there are always new things to be learned and new skills to acquire. I have loved being able to utilize much of my past experience to create & improve processes within our small-but-mighty boutique-style firm to keep us running as efficiently as possible.

I live in Encinitas, California with my two delightful daughters and our dog, Toby. We moved to North County San Diego in 2018 and prior to that I had the fortune of living in some of the most beautiful places in the world. My career in non-profit began in Santa Barbara, where I was the Executive Director of the American Heart Association. From there I paused my career to move to Zurich, Switzerland where I started my family and my first daughter was born.

My life experiences have led me here, pursuing my Certified Financial Planner™ designation. Having gone through divorce, I know too well the feelings one can have during such a financially tumultuous time. I felt ignorant, ashamed, and helpless when it came to understanding my personal finances. As I educated and empowered myself by utilizing resources around me, I was inspired to begin a career in financial advising. My hopes are to encourage financial literacy in women, like me, and help them find their financial independence. I am thrilled to begin this next chapter of my career on the Fonte Financial team.

When I’m not studying for my CFP® designation or playing on the beach with Toby and my girls, I spend my free time on the ocean in an outrigger canoe paddling and competing out of Mission Bay, with the Kai Elua Outrigger Canoe Club, of which I am Vice President. Highlights from this year’s season are racing in the Queen Lili’uokalani Canoe Race in Kona, Hawaii and racing to Catalina Island from Newport Beach. I also enjoy supporting the La Jolla Playhouse as an annual subscriber and volunteering for the Jewish Family Services migrant shelter.

We Have The Experience You Require

We are nationally known experts in the financial intricacies of Divorce, Divorce Financial Planning, and Post-Divorce Wealth Management. Divorce is the largest financial transaction of your life amid the most emotionally chaotic time. The financial decisions made during and after your divorce will very likely be the most difficult you will ever make. The decisions you make today will affect your financial safety and security for years to come.

Divorce is a special circumstance that your current advisors are likely not fully equipped to help you with. For instance, attorneys think in terms of laws, they don’t think of long-term financial security or how to manage your money. So when you have a complex financial picture, you’ll need more help than your lawyer can give you. CPAs, Accountants, and Tax professionals are trained to look at your financial picture from a backward looking perspective at what’s happened in the past. We look toward the future with you, to help you plan for your safety and security.

Financial Planners have a deep knowledge of financial products, but they’re often overwhelmed by situations involving conflict and unfamiliar with financial intricacies of divorce.   We can help diffuse interpersonal conflicts to help you work towards a satisfying solution. We understand the intricacies of how the law intersects with your money, and we help ensure your long-term financial well-being in an understanding way.

We Are Independent From Corporate Interests

We do not have shareholders or corporate executives setting limitations, guidelines and rules for what products or strategies we can employ. We choose to be independent because we believe it is the best model for putting our clients’ interests at the forefront of our business practices and maintaining a fiduciary standard of care.

We Are Held To A Fiduciary Standard

A fiduciary’s responsibilities are both ethical and legal. We assist each individual in their efforts to become a well-educated, highly motivated, diligent and disciplined financial decision maker capable of building and maintaining a safe and secure financial future for their family. We choose to maintain this standard of care and take a great deal of pride in knowing that we are working solely in the best interest of the individuals and families we work with.

Now that you know who we are, let’s talk about what we do and how we can help you!

Retirement is a major life transition including your financial picture, social interactions and family life. Retirement planning is about the strategic conversion of your career assets into financial ones. Pulling the trigger on retirement prior to investigating the likelihood of meeting your financial goals is guaranteed to result in disappointment. Our retirement preparation services are designed to work strategically with clients to uncover all potential risks and costs in attaining your retirement goals. We use statistical analysis to uncover the likelihood your assets and incomes can support your retirement life and suggest strategic initiatives for change where weakness is uncovered.

How We Work

We believe that transparency is essential to creating the foundation of a long-lasting relationship.  We are the "architects" of financial decision-making for our clients.  Our team will work with you to develop options and strategies for complex financial decision-making, then guide you through a fully informed decision-making process.  Our mission is to provide Clarity for Your Financial Future.  When you work with us, here is what you should expect during the initial onboarding process and beyond.

conversation icon

INITIAL DISCOVERY

When we have our first meeting, we will walk through your divorce agreement with you.  This is a no-judgment and no-pressure process where our goal is to gather data so we can best prepare to assist you.  We simply want to learn about you and your situation.

proposal icon

ENGAGEMENT

When we meet next, we prepare a version of a proposal.  This will include a discussion of fees and our client agreement contract.  This is the time when we hope to set expectations for the future of our relationship and to make sure everyone is on the same page before we proceed.

strategies icon

IMPLEMENTATION

We will meet again after the accounts are open and the documents are signed.  We will continue to have discussions about you and your plans in life.  We want to continue to get your buy-in to the strategies we create.  Before any investments are made, we will confirm our strategy, once again, with you.  And with that element in motion, we can discuss budgeting and lifestyle planning with you.

relationship icon

ONGOING

Our relationship from there will continue.  We will meet regularly to follow up to adjust plans where needed, review the financial action plan, and talk about to-do items if your outlook changes, such as if you were to be getting remarried, change jobs, nearing retirement, etc.

Fonte System Map

We encourage you to explore our system map of comprehensive services.  You’ll see there is more to the plan than the money in your account -- our goal is to establish a long-lasting relationship with our clients through transparency and by providing expert advice as a part of our all-inclusive services.  When you work with us, you can rest assured knowing that we'll help you through all aspects of the following areas:

We help you with a forward-looking focus to allow you to better understand what expenditures are necessary to build and grow your business, as well as business succession planning.

Fees

As fiduciaries, we offer our services as fee-based. Our clients are the only ones who pay us. We do not accept commissions or other compensation from brokerage firms, banks, investment managers or mutual fund companies. We do not accept gifts or prizes for doing business with a brokerage firm, bank, investment manager or mutual fund company.

This is to ensure that we are only operating in your best interests and not looking to sell you something that we make commissions on. This way you know what you are getting and you can rest assured that we have no conflicts of interest.

Another benefit of using fee-based financial advisors is the opportunity for them to offer an objective second opinion of your situation. The second opinion can range from addressing a specific financial question to a review of your investment portfolio to a full-blown financial plan.

Our Fee Schedule

Our fee schedule is designed as a percentage of the account balance we manage and covers all aspects of our comprehensive private wealth management service.

Post-Divorce Transition Management

Your financial settlement is complete and now you must take control of your new financial reality.

Investment Management, Life Insurance, Taxes, Cash Flow Management and Estate Planning can be overwhelming when you take them on alone. Fonte takes the questions out of your post-divorce finances and provides Clarity for Your Financial Future.

We have seen the negative effects of lack of follow through on enforcing financial agreements reached in divorce proceedings and seek to facilitate a safe and secure transition into your new financial reality.  The longer we wait to acquire your assets the more likely it is to run into problems.  We help you manage this process.

We have created a comprehensive Post-Divorce Financial Checklist and protocol for ensuring the settlement you worked so hard to negotiate will not be ruined by lack of follow through.

You may not have been responsible for managing the family finances while married.  This does not mean you are incapable.  It just means we will need to bring you up to speed through education.
